British Modernism

The Wellin Museum's Collection of British Modernism contains one of the largest collection of artworks by artist and designer Dorothy Shakespear, along with works by other members of the Vorticism circle such as Henri Gaudier-Brzeska and Wyndham Lewis.

These artworks, which include sculptures, watercolors, paintings, collages, and numerous sketches, are complimented the papers of Ezra Pound, Class of 1905, held by Hamilton College's Burke Library Special Collections, accessible at: http://elib.hamilton.edu/pound

The collection also includes numerous examples of paintings and drawings by Graham Sutherland and those British artists whose work was influential to his development, including Henry Moore.

The collection was primarily formed thanks to two important alumni: Omar Pound, Class of 1951, and his wife Elizabeth Pound and William G. Roehrick, Jr., Class of 1934, H'1971.
